What is Depression?

Depression is a disorder that involves the body, mood and thoughts, and can affect the way you feel about yourself, the way you eat and sleep, and the way you think about things. It is quite normal for most people to feel a little down or pessimistic from time to time. However depression is more than just a passing mood, so consider how frequently it happens, how severe is it when it happens, and how long it last each time. It is important to realise that depression is not a sign of weakness and that it is not easy for the depressed person to just 'pull themselves together' and get better by themselves. Without any form of treatment the symptoms can often go on for months or years.

Symptoms of Depression

Depression may affect both the mind and body, so symptoms fall into three main categories, physical, behavioural and emotional.

It is very important for you to discuss your symptoms with your doctor so that a full medical assessment can be made. Do not self diagnose.

This list below is not complete, and most people with depression will not experience all of these symptoms. The symptoms, or intensity of the symptoms may also vary over time.

Some Common Symptoms of Depression may include:

Persistant Sadness Anxiousness 'Empty' mood
Sense of hopelessnesss Pessimism Feelings of Guilt
Sense of worthlessness Sense of helplessness Loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed
Decreased energy Feeling fatigued Poor concentration
Poor memory Difficulty making decisions Insomnia
Change in appetite Weight loss or gain Thoughts of death, suicide
Restlessness Irritability Inexplicable Aches and pains
Inappropriate behaviour Digestive disorders Headaches
Racing thought Poor judgement Defeated

PLEASE NOTE: If you are suffering from any of the above symptoms then get them checked out by a doctor right away, it is important for you to discuss your symptoms with your doctor.

The Treatment

The treatment is available at the Manchester practice and is highly tailored to each persons requirements, so the exact form of treatment and number of sessions will vary from person to person. However significant improvements can often be made in as little as 6 to 12 sessions, for more deep rooted or very complex problems, more will be required.

The treatment uses an integrative approach and combines elements of Solution-Focused Integrative Psychotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP),Self-Relations Psychotherapy, CBT, Counselling, Hypno-Psychotherapy and Coaching, which are each individually recognised as successful ways of changing peoples thoughts, behaviours and perceptions and I'm sure you can imagine the amazing benefits of combining these powerful approaches, allowing you to easily change the thoughts and behaviours you currently have so you just find yourself changing in beneficial ways.

I am a professional fully qualified and experienced Psychotherapist, Advanced Hypnotherapist, Life Coach and a Licensed NLP Master Practitioner. I was trained by some of the best trainers and combine all my skills and experience to produce a treatment that is tailored to your exact needs.

Each session lasts up to 1 hour (see the consultation fees page for session prices and discounts.) Extended sessions are also available.

When you are committed to make the inner changes you need to manage your depression, simply phone me on 0161 881 4333 or to make an appointment now.

When considering the rest of your life, what value do you place on your well-being?

Booking is easy

NOTE: Before booking it is very important that you get your symptoms diagnosed by a medical practitioner or doctor, as many of the symptoms of depression may also be symptoms of more serious conditions.

I recommend booking an Initial Consultation/Assessment Session first. This gives us the chance to begin to explore your issues and your requirements further, give you honest answers to any questions you might have, give you a realistic estimate of the number of sessions you may require and begin the process of change.

When you are ready to make the inner changes you need, simply phone me on 0161 881 4333 or to make an appointment now.

Please consider joining the email mailing list to be kept up to date with upcoming events.

According to Mind, England and Wales's leading mental health charity, it produced "startling" results proving the need for ecotherapy to be considered a proper treatment option."
