Would I Benefit From Seeing a Psychotherapist?
All of us encounter uncomfortable feelings at some time or another within our lives. A large number of emotions such as melancholy, hopelessness, anxiety and stress normally occur naturally as a part of life. As an example, it is very normal to experience anxiety or stress prior to an interview or exams.
Where this can be a problem is when these thoughts engulf you so much that it becomes difficult for you to perform normally in your every day life. If you are worried, tearful, have eating issues, insomnia issues, have poor attention, are lacking direction, have hardly any energy and enthusiasm, are drinking alcohol or using drugs excessively, have persistant low mood, having trouble managing your temper or getting along with others, then you ought to really think about visiting a psychotherapist.

How can I be sure that you are the right therapist for me?
I understand that it is essential that you feel comfortable with your therapist. Which is one reason I offer an Initial Consultation Session with no obligation to continue.
This provides us the chance to meet face-to-face, acquire a detailed case history as well as discuss your problems, required outcomes and the treatment method, in much more detail. Letting you have the opportunity to ask any questions, before making up your mind with regards to continuing with the treatment. You will receive honest answers to any queries you might have along with a realistic estimate of the number of sessions you may require. Also this initial session gives me the chance to determine if I will be able to help you. If I don’t believe that I can help, I will not waste your time, and may refer you to someone with more suitable experience.
If you would prefer to have a brief chat before booking the Initial Consultation session then please call me on 0161 881 4333.
How many sessions will I need?
Considering that people are different this really is a very difficult question to answer without talking to you in considerably more detail. For short-term brief therapy dealing with a particular issue, you will usually need to budget for between 6 to 12 sessions. For more deep rooted, life-long, chronic, or multifaceted issues requiring longer term psychotherapy or counselling, more sessions will not surprisingly be required. Sessions normally take place weekly, but this can be negotiated to suit your circumstances. After our initial consultation I will have a lot better sense of both you together with the challenges you want to work on, and will be in a position to offer you a better estimate.
